Description

Muhammad al-Idrisinei was sending to his sultan reports of travel to foreign lands. Arriving in Sicily, near Scicli he discovered a magical place where a source poured water five times a day, at well-defined times but the most particular thing is that this phenomenon corresponds to the hours of the musulmane prayers.

This magical place was called ayn al-awqāt, which is the source of the hours, which Latinized became Donnalucata.

Unfortunately, this source has not been found any more, it was probably due to the action of the sea that during the low tides showed the sources of fresh water in the “Ughie” on the Lido di Micenci. One thing is certain: when you reach these coasts, the magic is perceived in the air.

I’m traveling this period to discover new houses for you and how you’ll be aware that I’m slowly and inexorably falling in love with Sicily.

I have to say that whenever I visit a property I cannot divide between a work visit and a desire to move and again, finding out for you what was behind a wall and a door I could not resist the atavius impulse to imagine myself already at home.

Today it has not been at all difficult, those who know how much I love the large terraces, for more reason if they allow me to enjoy a view of the sea in the company of Alf, my four-legged placid. Having a large terrace already with an equipped kitchen is really the maximum; it is of course protected from the direct rays of the sun or the sudden arrival of the rain.

Having a large solarium on the roof guarantees the privacy and tranquility of being able to sunbathe in the months when tourists – invade – the beaches and Alff prefer to stay in our apartments.

A two bedroom apartment is perfect for my husband and I, allows us to have the children close when they come to visit us or to accommodate friends, without having to ask for external help for the cleaning of the house.

And then there is the entrance, my joy. Here, in the long avenue, I have planted everything now, my cuttings are becoming plants, the lights wisely placed allow you to admire all these splendid green miracles that in these days are a triumph of flowers.

In the former shed for boats and campers I came back to live my first love. I created a ceramic workshop where I regularly keep courses for the schools, I think back to when we took this house, the large open brick ground floor rooms that have now become the gallery of my works. But we were saying … this is my dream, what will you do with this splendid house?
