Description
While waiting for a taxi outside Comiso airport, I am kissed by the tender April sun. I fear that I will be making the journey with an anonymous new car with a chemical scent and a noisy young man. It is not so, I am greeted by an old white Beetle, driven by a disheveled curly girl who seems to have come straight from a demonstration in ’68.
The car smells of oranges (she dries them herself to create natural perfumes) the jazz music goes well with the context but is a pleasant background in a conversation that seems to be taking place between old friends.
She asks me the reason for the trip, I only have a small yellow trolley with me, and I tell her that I have come to visit some properties, but alas I only have two days and 6 houses to see. She asks me what the first address is to reach and I realize that I am giving her carte blanche, I ask her if she wants to be my guide and driver for two days. The “why not” was the answer I was hoping for and so we head together towards the first property.
I understand why he chose this first, it’s a villa, directly overlooking the sea. It’s not a sumptuous and a bit snobbish modern villa all glass and steel, honestly it looks a bit like an old fisherman with this slightly cracked external shell.
I cross the boundary wall welcomed by the serenity of seaside places. The ground floor of the house is a large porch, we could say that this house is almost a stilt house.
At the moment it doesn’t seem very used but I think that adorned with plants and with some sliding glass doors it will be the place for moments of contemplation and conversation. Here, you can sit with a good book or sip a cup of mint tea, while the sun rises in the sky, painting the world with golden shades. In one corner a garage, discreet and functional, ready to store cars and bicycles, symbols of daily adventures along the coast.
I generally look at houses for the light and the spaces because the house is an intimate place and needs to be personalized. Here the light is not lacking and I immediately find my corner of paradise, a balcony overlooking the coast, where the waves gently crash on the shore and the scent of saltiness mixes with the fresh air.
The living room is airy and designed to encourage conviviality with its open kitchen and various niches to create a living room and dining area; the large French windows of the terraces allow natural light to flood the room, or to look out directly onto the sea, offering a breathtaking view. Imagine opening the glass doors and letting the sea breeze in, while the sound of the waves accompanies your conversations.
The two bedrooms, each with its own distinctive character, are havens of tranquility. Here, rest is guaranteed, lulled by the sweet song of the waves. The two well-designed and practical bathrooms make every moment of the daily routine a pleasant and refreshing experience.
In this corner of paradise, every detail is designed to celebrate the beauty of life by the sea. The house is not just a dwelling, but a refuge for the soul, a place where memories intertwine with the sweetness of nature. Every day spent here is an invitation to live with passion and gratitude, to discover the wonder of a panorama that changes with the tides and to enjoy the serenity of a simple and authentic existence.
Now I’m going down, I saw that my guide is already in his swimsuit and I don’t want to miss a swim embraced by the red of the sunset.
